Ragini, a leaf from a Ragamala. Amber, early 18th century. Gouache and gold on paper. Leaf 33cm by 23cm.

The following is edited from personal correspondance with one of the great Indian art historians:

"I suspect that its iconography follows Hanuman's text... The text
of the verse says that it is a kavita describing the svarupa of Maru but
obviously not the Dola Maru prototype for the ragini as found in the
normal Rajasthani Ragamalas. Ebeling mentions something more akin to
[this] Maru as a Ragini in Hanuman's system on pp. 82 and p. 253 No. 233
( which is numbered 24). The text of his No 233 is shorter than your
kavita, though it may give a similar dhyana. [This] is numbered 44 and
in his layout of Hanuman's system on p. 18 he puts Maru as No. 26. In
fact his version of Hanuman's system does not have as many as 44 or more
ragas and raginis (only the usual 36) but he does indicate on p. 114
that two versions of the Amber tradition stem from Hanuman in some
way. The trouble is that Hanuman is an early author, who does not seem
to be adequately dealt with in the literature on Ragamalas or Indian
literature generally..."
