Two miniatures, the smallest featuring Venugopala or Krishna fluting, alongside Sita, Kamadhena the wish-fulfilling cow flanking them.  The larger is of Shiva seated on his ascetic's tiger skin, Parvati at his sidebut leaning on a large ornate bolster more suited to royalty.  At their feet is a small Nandi wearing richly adorned trappings.  To their side is a worshipper.  All are beneath the canopy of a tree situated on the peak of Mount Khailasa, snow-covered abode of Shiva. Bengal, circa 1850. Gouache and gold on ivory. In an original frame of ebonised wood with domed glazing. Frame: 16.1 x 8.9cm. Paintings: 6.5 x 6cm ; 3.5 x 4.5cm
