Now an online sale exhibition of a private collection, with galleries featuring a selection of Indian miniature paintings from the 15th to early 20th century.
A selection of paintings priced for first time buyers, novice collectors and those looking to add to established collections. There are usually a few paintings from these galleries in my ebay store (at fixed prices) which can be accessed via the link in the navigation bar to the left . Prices are generally more expensive on ebay due to costs incurred.
A feature introduced in Nov. 2009 is the inclusion for all paintings of a "perspective" image showing myself holding the painting to indicate its relative size.
Updates:
Spotlight: 28th March 2009
New Arrivals: 21st June 2010
Paintings Galleries: 21st June 2010
Paintings Archive: 13th July 2010

Also exhibited for sale are a range of arts (Hindu, Buddhist, Islamic and Jain) which are mainly sculptures in bronze, wood and clay but may from time to time include boxes and containers, textiles, small furniture, etc.
The Spotlight provides a showcase for single or small groups of paintings from my private collection (these are not for sale). This feature will include information which I hope will be of interest to visitors. Spotlight features will change every once in a while. The curent Spotlight features a fragment from a ragamala illustration, Aurangabad, circa 1650, possibly Gauri Ragini. Archive Spotlight articles will remain online, the first being an ancestral portrait collection of a Mewari thikana.
One of my favourite paintings - Maharaja Man Singh of Jodhpur enjoying a nautch. Sorry, this painting is not for sale.

Choosing, buying and arranging delivery/shipment of an Indian miniature, etc.:
It is most usual for purchases to be made after corrspondence initially by email, sometimes followed with phone calls according to circumstance and choosing - my telephone number will be given once negotiations begin. Before they do so, interested parties are advised to request detailed condition reports for items they are interested in. Often further information such as provenance is provided on request. Buyers are then invoiced with full costs including postage/shipping/insurance.* Arrangements for payment will be made prior to despatch. I accept bank transfers/wires, cheques in British Pounds (£) and cash. Also payments via Paypal (charged an additional 4% to cover costs). For UK buyers with internet banking a transfer is simple, quick and usually cost free.
Each purchase is fully described including an image of the item and a condition report in a receipt which is sent electronically in pdf or hard copy by mail. This is the buyer's guarantee of authenticty.**
Please note that although I endeavour to convey colour accuracy in images this cannot be guaranteed due to differences in PC processors, screens, etc.
I am available by email at indianminiaturepaintings@gmail.com. When requesting information, etc., please indicate each item's code (or Gallery number - eg PG1a) preferably with description which you can cut and paste.
The exhibition will change with the arrival and departure of Indian miniature paintings etc.
Thank you for visiting my online sale exhibition

*Insurance can be a problem for overseas buyers. Many due to bad practice on eBay believe Royal mail and courier services such as DHL, FedEx, TNT, etc. provide insured delivery. They may charge for insurance, but it is fact that antiques and works of art are exempt. this leaves buyers with the following recommended options:
1. Royal Mail International Datapost is the fastes and safest method (designed for cash, jewellery and important documents) which guarantees delivery Worldwide within 24 hours - w/end excepted - with stage-by-stage tracking and requiring a signature on receipt. The service starts at around £50 with the average miniature costing around £65.
2. Royal Mail International Signed For is a priority service requiring a signature on delivery, usually taking 3-5 working days from UK to Europe and 7-9 for USA. Tracking is not available. Paintings shipped between sturdy poystyrene blocks usually cost around £7.50 to Europe and £10 to USA. To date no paintings have been lost or damaged with this service, though two (out of 100+) had delivery delayed.
3. Royal Mail Airsure is a priority service which usually takes 3-5 working days from UK to Europe and 7-9 for USA. Tracking is available, but a signature is not required on delivery. Paintings shipped between sturdy poystyrene blocks usually cost around £7.50 to Europe and £10 to USA. To date no losses, damgae or delays but few use this service.
4. The international shipping co. Cadogan Tate Fine Art and St Albans Shipping (UK) provide overseas delivery inc. insurance cover. Minimum cost for a single painting: £200.
**Purchasers are entitled a refund of purchase price where the item is proved to be significantly different from either the invoice description or condition report.
