On the right Krishna leads Arjuna's chariot as the battle of Kurukshetra commences.  To the left the Kauravas are represented.  Both armies' foot-soldiers and cavalry battle at the foot of the folio, some with turbans tied in the Sikh style which reflects Sikh control of Kashmir and elsewhere in the Himalayan foothills during the early part of the 19th century.
