Maharana Sangram Singh receives a nobleman, Mewar c. 1720-30. Gouache and gold on paper. Folio 33 x 22.3cm; image 29.1 x 18.2cm

The inscription on the reverse of this painting transliterates as Maharana Sahib Sangram Singhji.  The maharana sits cushioned by an ornate bolster smoking a huqqa.  He gives audience to an elder nobleman - a visitor of high status evident from his garland of flowers, splendid jama and turban, and his proximity to the maharana.
