Silk embroidery on silk ground choli [bodice] fragment. Choli sleeve professionally embroiderd by Mochi community . Kutch or Saurashtra, Gujarat, India. Early 20th century. Height 32.5cm, width 23cm.
Worked with an ari [like a tambour hook]. Mochis are a Muslim community formerly of leatherworkers who embroidered this for a Hindu patron.
